GDS 2015 Scheme

Overview of the 2015 NHS pension scheme. which differs significantly from the 1995 and 2008 sections of the previous scheme.

Overview

If you provide general dental services and are entitled to an NHS pension, your date of birth determines the NHS Pension Scheme that you can join. If you were born:

  • On or after 1 September 1965, you will be eligible for the 2015 scheme
  • Between 2 April 1962 and 31 August 1965, you will transfer to the 2015 scheme at some point but remain in the 1995 or the 2008 section for now
  • On or before 1 April 1962, you remain in the 1995 or the 2008 section.
